DESCRIPTION:Mark and the Groove Diggers are a variety band playing classic Rock\, Blues\, Country\, RnB\, and all points in between. \nBorn in 1964 and raised in the Fort Smith Arkansas area\, Mark was blessed with diverse musical surroundings. He was international finalist in the GIT scholarship competition sponsored by Fender Musical Instruments. He has shared the stage with greats such as the legendary B. B. King\, Phoebe Snow\, and Harp great\, Billy Blanks. Mark has worked other regional greats like Arkansas’ own Mr. Cabbage Head and the Screaming Radishes and Oklahoma’s Wanda Watson as her lead guitarist and backing vocalist. Mark’s skill’s have been utilized as staff guitarist for Ben Jack Recording Studio’s. Mark has long been considered to be a well rounded\, soulful player adding a distinct sound with his guitar to any band he plays with\, especially his own Mark Albertson Trio. His rich\, southern\, soulful blues vocals obviously pull from deep within his heart.Mark Albertson(Guitar/Vocals) \nSteve picked up a bass early in life after watching the bass players in his Mom’s bands. He has played around the region with most of the old “Garrison Avenue Crew” as well as road trip bar gigs\, festivals\, rallies\, and good old pasture parties in multiple states. Some of his bass work can be heard at Reverberation “bassplayersareyourfriend”. Steve found a home with The Groove Diggers and provides a wealth of factual information about most drummer’s behavior in their natural habitat \nJenks Smith began playing drums when he was 11 years old. He has played with many bands and his musical career\, but none that ever really did a whole lot. He drove the same van for 30 years\, and had some friends in college. He still enjoys playing the drums\, but the fourth said as always a killer.\nHe has played with many bands in his musical career\, but the fourth set is always a killer.\nHe still enjoys\, playing the drums\, and hopes you like it too.

DESCRIPTION:Don Bailey\nMaster of multiple brass and wind instruments!\nDon Bailey has performed with The Temptations\, The Four Tops\, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra\, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra\, Dizzy Gillespie\, Steve Allen\, Lucie Arnaz\, the New York Voices\, Tommy Newsom\, Marvin Hamlisch\, Phil Driscoll and other nationally acclaimed artists. He also has opened for Christian music artist Clay Cross and country music artist Randy Travis.\nDon Bailey is an Associate Professor of Music and the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith\, teaching since 1985. He helped develop the curriculum for a “Jazz Studies” concentration associated with the Bachelor of Arts in Music degree. Bailey teaches all of the core jazz courses\, including music theory.\nDon is active as a clinician and adjudicator throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma. He developed the first comprehensive summer Jazz Band Camp in Arkansas\, and he developed a Jazz Improv for Strings camp for orchestral strings—one of only a handful in the country. Both camps have grown under his direction and attract students from Arkansas\, Oklahoma and Texas.\nA native of New Jersey\, Bailey received his formative music education performing as a freelance musician in New York and his home state. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Iowa Wesleyan College (Mount Pleasant) and his Master of Arts in Music degree from the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls)\, where he served as teaching assistant in Jazz Studies under Dr. Bob Washut.\nIn 2007\, Don received the annual (Fort Smith) “Mayor’s Honors to the Visual and Performing Arts.” He was included in Who’s Who in America for 2008 and in the 2009 edition of Who’s Who in the World\, and received the “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” award in 1998\, 2002\, 2004 and 2005. He also earned the “Excellence in Teaching Award” at Westark College (now UAFS) in 1987\, and the “National Teaching Excellence Award” from The University of Texas at Austin in 1989.\nDon has served two terms as president of the Arkansas Unit of the International Association for Jazz Education\, and has represented the state at regional and national jazz events. He also is on the teaching staff of the International Worship Institute in Dallas.\nHe is president and co-founder (with his wife\, Terri) of “New Song Music Company”\, through which they publish their original musical compositions. Together\, they have written numerous solos\, vocal choruses\, and background tracks for ensembles\, jazz band\, and vocal ensemble music\, as well as written and produced several background tracks of familiar hymns used for instrumental performances. Their latest and most extensive work is “Jazz Suite: A Retrospective.”\, a 12-movement jazz piece performed by the Fort Smith Symphony.
